Well, the ideal thing to do would be to put electrical tape on the connector
_BEFORE_  you put the coax seal on, but since that's too late...  The hasty
option would be to cut the connector off and put on a new one.  If you want
to save the connector then just get off whatever you can then use the ball
of that to get the rest off.  I hope that Coax Seal is similar to the tar or
roll of really sticky black or beige stuff that most people use. (Also
referred to as "Ickum-pucky" (don't ask me)) Otherwise, cut off the
connector.

My noise stopped after the new Igniter was put in.  I wonder where they are
made?????

While my Honda was made in Ohio, I think I will go with a Canadian made
Ford next time....

AS I do not have direct ftp access I can only go thru a mail server.
However, trying to get a list (ls) of the ICOM directory yielded an
out of memory error.  Looks like I need the exact filename.

You might want to note that the Yeasu 2400H is on sale at the
moment for 5 cents less than $300.  That is a pretty good

Not a bad idea at all except for one slight problem.  The ftp site
would be a point of vulnerability.

provide info, ask questions, and somewhere, an archive site would

Well, we must remember that the entire online repeater directory
project is a volunteer effort.  I have not made a single penny on it
nor have any of the volunteers participating in the project.  Given
the nature of the project, it would be difficult for me to justify
paying a lawyer for a consultation.  Further, it was my intention in
coming up with the format that the format be different from the ARRL's
format.  Remember, mine is a database which is designed to make life
easy for a computer.  The ARRL repeater directory is a book designed
to make like easy for a human.  This by itself necessitates a large
difference in data format.  I am hoping that the format problem is due
to something minor like the comments field and not the entire idea of
organizing a repeater entry by geography then frequency.  Even if it
is the latter (which I find slightly ridiculous), we may be able to
work around the problem by changing the number of geography fields and
organizing by frequency and then geography.  Things like the repeater
call sign could be deleted or some such.  Further, it might be
possible to use alternative sources of information.

If I get sued over this project, it would certainly be a case of "no
good deed goes unpunished."

I believe, for example, that the original database was available on

I will certainly consider doing so but I am hoping that this entire
fiasco will be a moot point.  I hope that the ARRL would be willing to
discuss the situation and come to some sort of agreement whereby the
online directory can continue without threat of suits.  If this is the
case, there is no need to post the letter.  I would prefer to wait a
couple of weeks to allow the league time to reply to my email queries.
At this time, posting the letter would be highly inflammatory while
providing little or no benefit.  Remember, I only emailed them a bit
over a week ago.

Try deleting the sm.usr and sm.cfg (or whatever they are...I don't
have the program here) and start the program again.  That process gets
around a bug in an earlier version running under DOS.  Don't know what
the cause is, but it sure did demoralize my wife when she was trying
to learn the code!

Notes of Interest

Penguin Islands, ZS0 and Walvis Bay, ZS9.  The government of South
Africa has agreed to hand over the thirteen Penguin Islands and Walvis
Bay to the Republic of Namibia on 28 February.  Look for DJ6JC, DJ6SI
and V51BI, using the call ZS0X, 23-28 February from Penguin Islands
and ZS6EZ and G3XTT with the call ZS9Z, from Walvis Bay.  They will
both become part of Namibia beginning 1 March and more than likely be
deleted as DXCC countries.

Desecheo, KP5.  The planned DXpedition by a group of operators for
March 1-7 has been cancelled.  Permission to land has been denied
because of a group of Haitian squatters.  Until this can be resolved,
no landing permission can be given.

Revilla Gigedo, XF4.  This operation is now and will be on until March
4.  Activity on all bands 10 thru 160 including RTTY.  QSL Hector,
XE1BEF.

Mayotte, FH.  Hermann, DJ2BW should be signing FH/DJ2BW for a much
needed one in RTTY from 1-9 March.  KYFC

I noticed a marked increase of noise on the AM band and a slight whine on
VHF after it happened on the Citation.  The Dodge had some noise increase
on AM broadcast, but none detectable on VHF.   I guess it all depends on
the condition of the noise suppresor and the actual alternator model and
problem itself.
